When your energy reserves are low, and your rest has been inadequate, even routine tasks and traffic jams can feel unbearable. Chronic sleep deprivation doesn’t just lead to emotional instability; it also impairs decision-making, reduces concentration, and increases irritability—feeding the very cycle of stress you’re trying to escape.

Importantly, sleep isn’t just about duration, but the quality matters too. Bad habits like scrolling on phones before bed, irregular sleep schedules, or drinking caffeine late in the evening can all disrupt your natural circadian rhythm. These behaviors reduce your chances of entering the deep, restorative sleep stages the body needs to repair and reset. As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in three adults in the U.S. does not consistently get sufficient, high-quality sleep.

This lack of rest is closely linked to increased cortisol levels—the body’s primary stress hormone—creating a physiological foundation for persistent anxiety.

A key component often overlooked in this equation is your mattress and sleep health.
